Juhua Group, the largest chemical industrial base in Zhejiang province,  celebrates its 60th anniversary on May 11.


Juhua Group, the largest chemical industrial base in Zhejiang province,  celebrated its 60th anniversary on May 11 with a conference to recount the company's many achievements and map out its future.


The conference was attended by various distinguished guests, including leaders in the government as well as the business community. The event also received national and local media coverage.

The conference marked the company's considerable achievements over the years, especially highlighting its rapid growth in the last decade, which saw doubled business income, tax contributions, productivity, and employee compensation since 2008. In addition, the company's net assets increased by 250 percent over these 10 years.

Gu Xiulian, former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Xu Wenguang, Party chief of the CPC Quzhou municipal committee, Hu Zhongming, president of Juhua Group, attended the conference. All spoke on  the significant achievements of Juhua Group, extended their best wishes for the company, and offered their advices for the company's continued development.

A day prior to the conference, Juhua Group held a commencement ceremony for six major projects it invested in, with a total investment of 3.5 billion yuan (US$553 million). The company said that the projects, including fluoro-products, advanced fluoride materials, advanced chloralkali materials, advanced electronic chemical materials, advanced petrochemical materials and smart operating centers, are of significant importance for Juhua Group’s innovative development.

Also on May 10, Juhua Group held the Innovative Development Forum. Li Shousheng, president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, gave a keynote speech to encourage innovative development in the petroleum and chemical industry in China.

He said that studying from the experiences of Juhua Group in the past 60 years is instrumental to deepening reform and opening up, implementing supply-side structural reform, and speeding up the transformation and upgrading of China's chemical industry.

Li also stressed that innovation is the basic need of a new era, and that the chemical industry should be firmly committed to the strate-gy of innovation-driven development, and build national and industry-level innovative platforms in five areas, including new ener-gy technology, advanced chemical materials, high-end, fine and specialty chemicals, modern coal chemical industry, and energy conservation and environment protection, in order to make breakthroughs in key technologies that restrict the development of the industry.
