China's Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday that a European Union anti-dumping investigation into hot-rolled steel sheet piles imported from China would seriously disrupt regular steel trade between the two sides.

Wang Hejun, head of the trade remedy and investigation bureau under the Ministry of Commerce, has called the EU's move an "overprotection", not good for long-term development and upgrading of EU's steel industry

Wang's remarks came after Brussels earlier on Thursday said it was launching the probe after three EU manufacturers of the product, used in construction, allegedly said that Chinese exports have increased significantly at artificially lower prices.
