National Brand Influence Forum highlights tourism sector

Representatives of winners of most influential tourism sites in China receive certificates at the forum in Beijing on May 28, 2018. 

The China National Brand Influence Forum opened in Beijing on May 28, with experts from government agencies, research facilities and media in attendance.

Among the research released at the forum were results from a survey on national brand influence in the tourism sector, including a China tourism influence index as well as top 10 lists of macrocosm tourism destinations, tourism sites and travel agencies in China.

Research for the forum was conducted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, in conjunction with People’s Daily Online and Renmin University of China, and covered more than 1,000 brands in 22 sectors ranging from tourism, home goods, building materials and consumer products to real estate, automobiles, and information technology.

According to experts attending the forum, tourism has become an increasingly major part of Chinese life after more than three decades of rapid growth, and local governments across the country who see its strategic value have prioritized the development of the tourism industry.

For this reason, the brand influence research team focused their efforts on the tourism sector. Launched in the first half of 2018, the survey on national brand influence in the tourism sector encompasses more than 1,600 tourism sites, destinations and enterprises, and offers useful data for improving marketing and brand building strategies.

The forum also announced the launch of a customer experience management system (CEM), which helps tourism sites monitor customer feedback in real time, provides visual information for management teams, and handles tourist complaints. All these measures are aimed at enhancing brand perception by improving customer experience.

The list of most influential macrocosm tourism destinations comprises Tongxiang city in Zhejiang, Yixian county in Anhui, Jinshan district of Shanghai municipality, Dujiangyan city in Sichuan, Hancheng city in Shaanxi, Wuyuan county in Jiangxi, Yangshuo county in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Wuyishan city in Fujian, Pingyao county in Shanxi, and Hengqin New Area of Zhuhai city in Guangdong.

The list of most influential tourism sites includes Qiyun Mountain scenic area in Anhui, Taierzhuang ancient town scenic area in Shandong, Huangbai Mountain scenic area in Henan, Xidi scenic area in Anhui and Mianshan Mountain scenic area in Shanxi.

Finally, the list of most influential travel agencies names Ctrip, China National Travel Service Group, CYTS, Uzai.com, Fliggy, Caissa, Spring Tour, Lvmama.com, China Comfort Travel Group, and the amalgamation recently formed between LY.com and eLong.com. Representatives from the winning tourism sites receive certificates at the forum.
