Beijing receives more visitors in first four months

Beijing saw nearly 1.2 million visitor arrivals across all transportation in the first four months of this year, up 3.1 percent year on year, according to local authorities.

Data from the municipal statistics bureau showed that about 996,000 overseas tourists visited Beijing during the period, a year on year growth of 3.4 percent.

The United States and Japan were the two major sources of tourists in Beijing, which saw 210,000 visitors from the U.S. and 70,000 from Japan.

In 2017, more than 3.9 million tourists visited Beijing.

Beijing is working on a more flexible visa services and simplified tax-refund procedures to attract more visitors.
