China will be able to ensure the absolute stability of its grain ration and the sufficient supply of homegrown crops across the country by 2035, said a report issued by China Academy of Agricultural Society (CAAS).
According to the "China Agricultural Industry Development Report", the output of crops, their planting areas, and yield per unit in China are expected to keep growing, despite the diminishing planting areas of rice and wheat as a result of new purchase and storage policies.
At the same time, Chinese crops of non-grain ration and livestock are estimated to supply more than 90 percent of the China market by 2035. This is possible due to the ongoing supply-side structural reform in the agricultural sector, the report said.
It also noted a subtle change in how Chinese people, especially those from the rural areas, are consuming meat based on data collected from livestock market.
Pork, a once favorite meat among Chinese people, is losing its popularity to beef and poultry.
