New energy firm BYD demonstrated its ambition to promote automotive intelligence and reshape travel with its new DiLink system in Beijing on Thursday.
The DiLink system is comprised of four parts, the DiPlatform, DiCloud, DiEcology and DiOpen. Sun Shuai, BYD's senior brand communication manager, said the system is an "intelligent and open software and hardware platform with ecological services."
The highlights at Thursday's event include the world's first smart auto-rotation pad named DiPlatform, a tablet computer with an Android operating system that can control the vehicle while supporting various apps, as well as its industry breakthrough comprising DiLink's 341 sensors and 66 controllers which will be released on an open platform, to provide a new mode of smart driving development.
DiEcology will be compatible with global applications and serve to connect a people-car-life-society. At the same time, it also provides an automatic driving development platform for developers to promote automatic driving technology to enter daily life quicker.
As the only auto company in the world that has been authorized by Android and chip manufacturers, BYD can carry out in-depth development and customization of various applications, such as smart keys, smart voice assistant, network-linked driving recorders, and can implement a fast-iterative upgrade of these apps.
The DiLink system has been installed in the All-New Tang series, which debuted in late June. A BYD representative told China.org.cn that the system will be equipped in all new energy vehicles developed by the company.
China has become the biggest new energy vehicles market in the world as the whole automotive industry reaches a watershed moment of conventional fuel vehicles being gradually banned, while new electric and smart vehicles take over.
BYD is present in more than 200 cities in 50 countries and regions and was the number one seller of new energy vehicles in the world between 2015 and 2017.
