China-Eurasia Expo closes, 39 bln USD contracts signed

Over 270.94 billion yuan (39.66 billion U.S. dollars) worth of contracts were signed during the sixth China-Eurasia Expo in Urumqi, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

During the expo held from Thursday to Saturday, contracts were signed covering key areas such as chemical engineering, energy and environmental protection, culture and tourism, new material and others, said Haderbek Hamza, deputy head of the regional government of Xinjiang at a press briefing Saturday.

A total of 51.94 billion yuan worth of contracts were signed with companies on the Fortune Global 500, accounting for 19.38 percent of the total.

Moreover, 25 major companies from Xinjiang have signed 29 agreements with companies from 13 countries along the Belt and Road, which are worth 10.48 billion yuan.

Delegates from 35 countries and regions attended the expo, along with 4,827 professional purchasers. A total of 704 companies, including 27 corporations on the Fortune Global 500, took part in the expo.

The previous expo saw 18 billion U.S. dollars worth of foreign trade contracts signed with Chinese companies.
