US-listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Friday with six of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of Yum China Holdings and SINA Corporation slid 3.04 percent and 1.42 percent, respectively, leading the laggards in the top 10 stocks of the index.

Shares of TAL Education Group and Alibaba Group rose 2.49 percent and 0.64 percent, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks of the index.

U.S. stocks ended mixed on Friday as investors digested a batch of corporate earnings and economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 64.89 points, or 0.26 percent, to 25,444.34. The S&P 500 fell 1.00 points, or 0.04 percent, to 2,767.78. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 36.11 points, or 0.48 percent, to 7,449.03.

The Cboe Volatility index, widely considered the best fear gauge in the stock market, decreased 0.85 percent to 19.89 on Friday.

As of Thursday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,426.31, marking a 12.77-percent decrease for the month-to-date returns and a 21.50-percent loss for the year-to-date returns.
