Jiangxi will work together with the enterprises to develop a world virtual reality industry base, pledged Wu Xiaojun, vice governor of Jiangxi provincial government at the signing ceremony.

The American high-tech enterprise Microsoft signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Oct. 20 to locate a new incubator project focusing on both on virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) in Nanchang.

Alain Crozier, CEO of Microsoft Greater China Region, was confident with the cooperation with Jiangxi. He said Microsoft was exploring and cultivating VR talents in Jiangxi to enter and serve the world.

George He, Lenovo president and managing partner of Lenovo Capital & Incubator Group, said it had already set up a new company for developing AR (augmented reality)/VR (virtual reality) technology. "I think a new platform for AR/VR is very valuable, and it can promote the development of the entire AR/VR industry and help new technology landing in China."

As early as 2016, the Nanchang Municipal Government held a global release and promotion conference of China (Nanchang) virtual reality industry base, which launched construction of the first such national base and also the world's first virtual reality industry plan.

According to the provincial industry and information technology commission, Jiangxi has cooperated with over 150 enterprises worldwide to invest 63.15 billion yuan (US$9.1 billion) in the VR industry so far.
