Nokia, as the only telecommunication enterprise attending the First China International Import Expo (CIIE), presented its global leading 5G technology and digitalized solutions for certain industries, allowing visitors to experience its super-high download speed, VR live broadcast, and intelligent operation and maintenance of the 5G technology at its exhibition stand in Shanghai.

The speed of 5G can be 10 to 100 times that of 4G; its latency time can be reduced from 60 to 70 milliseconds for 4G to less than 5 milliseconds; and it can support connectivity between millions of devices, including everything in our daily life, introduced Wang Jianya, president of Nokia Bell, at a news briefing held at the sidelines of the expo on Nov. 7.

“The advent of 5G will bring an unprecedented era featuring the connectivity of everything. Big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and the internet of things will all experience a leap forward development,” Wang said. Currently there are 2 billion vehicles globally which have not yet been connected to the internet. High-speed 5G technology can make it a reality and Nokia has established a R&D center on the internet of vehicles in Munich to realize the dream of driverless cars, he added.

He also noted that Nokia Bell has just signed cooperative agreements with China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom with the contract volume totaling two billion euros.
