Dongfeng Yueda Kia recalls vehicles in China over defective engines

Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motor Co., Ltd. will recall 68,567 automobiles due to cases of faulty engines, according to China's market regulator.

Starting November 26, the company will recall KX5 automobiles loaded with GAMMA 1.6 T-GDI engine manufacturing between January 19, 2016 and October 30, 2018, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation.

The defective engines could disintegrate when the automobiles run at low temperatures or travel a short distance.

The company will update the ECU software of the affected automobiles free of charge, and install necessary parts and components also free of charge.

The company will inform customers via mail, text messages and phone calls.
