Spring Airlines, China's largest low-cost carrier, has signed an agreement with Airbus to put into use its Skywise Core platform in the airline's fleet, announced Airbus China Monday.

According to the agreement, by using Skywise Core, Spring Airlines will integrate its operational, maintenance, and other aircraft data into the Skywise cloud and receive data-related services through it.

The Shanghai-based Spring Airlines operates an all Airbus A320 fleet of more than 80 aircraft.

With the cloud-based data platform, the airline can store, access, manage and analyze selected Airbus data together with its own fleet operation data and global benchmarks without the need for additional infrastructure investments.

The agreement between Spring Airlines and Airbus is an important step of the Skywise application in the Chinese market. Both sides will work closely together to develop and demonstrate new data-driven applications in the civil aviation sector, Airbus said.

Digitalization is among the major trends of the global aviation industry. It is highly expected to help manufacturers and airlines reduce costs and upgrade work efficiency through the collaboration of digital technologies.

Skywise is an enterprise data platform driving digital collaboration across the aerospace value chain. This data would provide immediate value for airlines' independent maintenance and other operations, Airbus said.

By the end of 2018, there were more than 1,700 Airbus aircraft serving in the Chinese market, said statistics from Airbus China.
