Chinese supercomputer manufacturer Sugon reports substantial revenue growth

China's leading supercomputer manufacturer Dawning Information Industry Co. Ltd., or Sugon, posted a year-on-year growth of 43.89 percent in revenue last year, the company said Friday.

The company said that its operating income amounted to 9.06 billion yuan (1.34 billion U.S. dollars) last year.

It said net profit attributable to shareholders of listed company increased by nearly 40 percent to 431 million yuan in 2018.

Sugon injected 724 million yuan into the research and development fields last year, a significant increase of over 68 percent year on year, the company said.

The company also saw an increase in research staff last year, from 992 in 2017 to 1,409, accounting for more than 51 percent of its entire employees.

Sugon is one of China's earliest and largest High Performance Computing vendors. It produced 57 supercomputers in the latest Top 500 supercomputer rankings.
