"Dongfang 13-2 CEPB," the second largest offshore oil production and processing platform in China, was completed for shipment at the Gaolan Port in the city of Zhuhai in south China's Guangdong Province earlier this month and will be shipped to the Yinggehai Basin of the South China Sea Wednesday.

The "Dongfang 13-2 CEPB" platform built by Zhuhai COOEC (China's Offshore Oil Engineering Company)-Fluor Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. is a comprehensive oil and gas processing platform.

The floating weight of the platform is 17,247 tonnes, equivalent to the weight of 10,000 ordinary cars, and covers an area of a football field.

As the central platform of China's Dongfang 13-2 gas field group, the platform is scheduled to be put into operation in June.

The platform will greatly improve the natural gas production capacity of the gas field group, with an estimated annual natural gas output of 2.6 billion cubic meters, which will provide sufficient clean energy for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
