China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced Wednesday that it had decided to start an anti-dumping investigation into imported methionine products from Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.

The probe was launched after the ministry received an application from the Ningxia Unisplendour Tianhua Methionine Co. Ltd., according to an official statement.

The investigation should be concluded by April 10 next year, but in special circumstances may be extended to Oct. 10, 2020.

Methionine is a chemical widely used in the animal feed, medicine and food sectors.

Ningxia Unisplendour Tianhua Methionine Co. Ltd. was registered and established in Zhongwei in northwestern China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in June 2013.
