Smart pedestrian crosswalk system launched in E. China

Smart pedestrian crosswalk system has been launched in Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province, according to Beijing Evening News on Saturday.

The system is made up of smart flashing tiles embedded in the ground around the crosswalk lines, and traffic lights. It is not special in the daytime, but is scheduled to be activated after 18:00.

When the light of pedestrian crossing turns to green, the tiles are lit up to make the crosswalk lines clearly seen at night. And voice system reminds pedestrians to walk quickly.

Lianyungang of Jiangsu Province and Hangzhou of east China's Zhejiang Province have also launched their smart pedestrian crosswalk systems, said the newspaper. Hangzhou installed artificial intelligent sensors to assist the traffic system analyze the flow of pedestrians and electric bicycles.
