The U.S. trade deficit shrank to US$49.4 billion in February, down 3.4 percent month-on-month, data released Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Commerce showed.
The US$1.7 billion decrease came with a year-over-year drop in the goods and services deficit of US$8.3 billion, or 7.6%, from February 2018.
The January deficit figure remained unchanged at US$51.1 billion after revision.
Exports rose to US$209.7 billion, a US$2.3 billion increase from January, while imports reached US$259.1 billion, up US$0.6 billion from the previous month, the data showed.
