The Standard Chartered Bank sees great prospects in the Chinese-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, officials told Xinhua during the Ghana episode of the bank's Belt and Road Relay on Thursday.

Jerry Agyeman-Boateng, executive director and head of global subsidiaries in the global banking department said that the initiative which seeks to create linkages across the world for enhancing trade was laudable and something the bank was supporting.

Agyeman-Boateng said that Standard Chartered has employed Chinese-speaking relationship managers in its 44 markets across the globe, stressing that the bank attached importance to the initiative.

The bank is also providing advisory services for the Chinese companies and contractors to remove the cultural and language barriers.

The Belt and Road Relay launched by the bank, is a global running event spanning many countries to create awareness in these markets about the great prospects of the initiative.
