Lin Jianhai, secretary-general of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) visited the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) on April 28, 2019.

President Wang Jiaqiong of the UIBE met Lin, an UIBE alumnus, and introduced Lin to the university's "Double-First Class" initiative, which aims to build a number of world class universities and disciplines, talent pool, academic cooperation on international research, and development of a high-end think tank and digital economy lab.

Lin thanked President Wang Jiaqiong for his warm welcome and said he recognized the university's efforts to give full play to its stronger disciplines, to focus on cutting-edge academic research and issues, and continuously promote its reputation in the international community. Lin also pointed out that given the research on the global value chain is a hot topic worldwide, the Global Value Chain Development Report released by the UIBE has high academic value and good prospects for application in a real-world environment.

Lin was in China to attend the Leaders' Roundtable of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in his capacity as the secretary-general of the IMF.
