The city of Fuzhou will employ big data and other innovative technology to take the lead in piloting supply chain integration across the Taiwan Strait, said Wang Ning, deputy secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Fujian Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee, during the opening ceremony of the China Supply Chain Summit 2019 held in Fuzhou, Fujian province, on May 18.

"We will accelerate the creation of a low-cost and high-efficiency cross-strait supply chain system, and promote the deep integration, thus achieving common prosperity across the Taiwan Strait," Wang said.

As a city at the forefront of reform and opening-up, the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, and a traditional hub of export-oriented manufacturing, Fuzhou, in recent years, has been developing new systems of supply and logistic chain integration. It has also accelerated the implementation of logistics standardization projects. Based on its unique advantages, the city has focused on the development of 14 supply chain platforms, such as automobile glass manufacturing, big malls and supermarkets, bulk commodity trading and port logistics. According to Wang, by integrating and coordinating different sectors – including design, production and consumption – Fuzhou has increased the quality and efficiency of its supply chains.

One example is the Green Banking platform, a supply chain platform developed jointly by Fuzhou Financial Holding Group and Zhong'an Industrial Group. The platform provides reliable technology, logistics and financial protection for bulk commodity trading. Another example is Fuyao Glass Smart Supply Chain Platform, which has connected more than 2,800 enterprises into one supply chain. Its flexible production and global supply chain management system has helped reduce production costs by 31%, while increasing efficiency by 46%.

"Fuzhou will actively promote supply chain innovation and applications, accelerate the construction of convenient supply chain platforms, and focus on cultivating a number of model enterprises in the field of supply chain innovation and application. Through the establishment of a modern supply chain system, the level of integration and collaboration of Fuzhou's industry will be enhanced," Wang said.
