Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.86 percent, at 2,852.13 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.48 percent higher at 8,711.79 points.
The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices stood at 366.7 billion yuan (about US$53.2 billion), shrinking from 386.67 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Most stocks rose, with winners outnumbering gainers by 1,093 to 307 on the Shanghai bourse, and 1,617 to 458 in Shenzhen.
Shares related to telecommunication services and rare earth were among the biggest winners, with Yantai Zhenghai Magnetic Material Co., Ltd. seeing its share price up by the daily 10-percent limit to 9.34 yuan a share.
Securities brokers and trust-related companies led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.08 percent to close at 1,431.34 points.
