Hainan to host World New Energy Vehicle Congress

Approved by China's State Council, the 1st World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC) will open in Boao, south China's Hainan province on July 1, it was announced at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.
Jointly hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the People's Government of Hainan, the event will focus on the transformation and upgrading of the automotive industry and ecological environment improvement, according to Liu Xingping, an official of CAST.
Around 1,200 participants from government, industry and academia will discuss a wide range of topics at the three-day event focusing on the theme of "New Era • New Revolution • New Industry."
Among the prominent speakers will be seven academicians; senior executives of Volkswagen, BMW, Nissan, Porsche, LG Chem, Siemens, Changan Auto, SAIC Motor, FAW, BAIC, BYD and CATL Battery; representatives of over 80 new energy vehicle-related enterprises; and over 100 renowned experts and scholars.
At the plenary session, government officials and industry leaders will share their insights on the energy revolution, environmental protection as well as auto industry transformation and innovation.
To address various concerns emerging in new energy vehicle development, the congress will also include eight thematic sessions dealing respectively with Strategic Transformation and Innovative Development of Global Automakers; Safety and Recall of New Energy Vehicles; City Forum: Best practices of Urban Mobility and Electrification; Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technologies and Innovations; Zero Emission M&HDV; Autonomous Driving and Future Urban Mobility; Innovation and Safety of EV Battery Technologies; Innovation and Safety of EV Battery Technologies; Innovation and Safety of EV Battery Technologies.
To facilitate understanding of the latest advances in new energy vehicle technology development, promote their applications, and enhance collaboration between China and the world, the congress will also organize an activity to select world cutting-edge and innovative technologies, with the results to be announced at the plenary session.
In addition, Chinese and foreign complete vehicle and spare parts makers will show their advanced technologies in an exhibition area of 5,000 square meters. Test drives are also available.
