Tianjin eyes high-quality growth

In the future, the city will continue to seek high-quality development and seek even greater growth momentum.

First, it will develop an increasing number of strategic emerging industries based on the initiative of building advanced manufacturing and R&D centers. While optimizing and upgrading traditionally strong industries, such as aerospace, equipment manufacturing, petroleum, chemical engineering, and automobile manufacturing, Tianjin also plans to place more reliance on strategic ermerging industries, notably smart technology, biomedicine, new energy and new materials. An industrial chain  that is independent, safe and controlable will be developed, consiting of the Tianhe-1 supercomputer, Dawning supercomputer, FeiTeng CPU, as well as the Kylin Operation System.


Second, it will build a world-class smart and sustainable port based on the concept of turning Tianjin into an international hub in northern China. In line with the world-leading standard, it has carried out a special campaign to improve efficiency and reduce costs, and optimize the business environment of Tianjin port. A string of measures have been implemented to reduce the compliance costs for the import and export of containers, as well cutting the customs clearance time.


Third, it will build a leading city of financial innovation with the focus on the development of a financial innovation operation demonstration district. It has introduced nearly 600 innovative products to strengthen the role of finance in serving the real economy and implemented all the "30 Articles for Financial Reform" of Tianjin Pilot Free Trade Zone. In the next stage, the city will take active measures to promote the development of a national leasing innovation demonstration district and further upgrading of the entire sector.


Lastly, it will foster a world-class business environment based on the idea of building a pioneering zone of reform and opening-up in Tianjin. It has promoted institutional innovation in the pilot free trade zone by putting forward some 300 pioneering reform measures concerning investment, trade, finance, customs clearance, and administration. Many experiences and cases have been replicated and applied on a nationwide-basis.
