Major Chinese stocks closed higher Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.93 percent, at 2,794.55 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.19 percent higher at 8,919.28 points.
The combined turnover of stocks on the two indices stood at 367.2 billion yuan (about 52.46 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 376.34 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 936 to 428 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,432 to 591 in Shenzhen.
Stocks in liquor and gold led the gains, while stocks related to free trade zones and agricultural planting led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.51 percent to close at 1,522.97 points.
