US dollar rises as concerns for trade tensions ease

The U.S. dollar rose in late trading on Tuesday as investors' concerns over U.S.-China trade tensions eased.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, was up 0.43 percent at 97.8130 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1173 U.S. dollars from 1.1219 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.2053 dollars from 1.2077 dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar rose to 0.6793 dollar from 0.6753 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 106.62 Japanese yen, higher than 105.27 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.9760 Swiss franc from 0.9689 Swiss franc, and it fell to 1.3221 Canadian dollars from 1.3244 Canadian dollars.
