A total of 3,069 enterprises have registered to establish operations in Xiongan New Area, north China's Hebei Province, local authorities said.

The first group of 26 high-end and high-tech enterprises have set up operations in the Xiongan citizen service center, of which 90 percent are from Beijing, according to a press conference held by the information office of the Hebei provincial government on Monday.

Tian Jinchang, deputy director of the Xiongan managing committee and chairman of China Xiongan Group, said at the conference that Xiongan has made significant progress in pooling innovative resources and planning high-end and high-tech industries.

The new area has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with internet giants including Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu and is pushing forward the construction of key projects such as an internet industrial park, the Tsinghua University intelligent laboratory and the Zhongguancun science park, according to Tian.

He added that Xiongan will continue to innovate its institutions and mechanisms and further improve its business environment.

China announced plans in 2017 to establish the Xiongan New Area, located about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing. The construction is scheduled for this year.
