The 2019 China (Quzhou)-Africa International Fair for Trade and Investment was held in Quzhou city in southeastern China's Zhejiang province from Sept. 5 to 6.

The fair this year aimed to set the stage for direct dialogue and to seek business opportunities between the two sides in the fields of e-commerce, machine manufacturing, the chemical industry, building supplies, solar power and textile industry, just to name a few.

Participants included 53 government officials and business leaders from 17 African countries.

As the fair concluded on Friday afternoon, 28 deals of purchase intent, as well as ten deals of talent training and relevant R&D, were signed between Quzhou and 17 Africans countries, the amount of which reached $51.6 million. This laid a solid foundation for communication and cooperation between the two sides.

In addition, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Quzhou Committee signed two cooperation deals to facilitate trade and investment respectively with the World Congress of Free Trade Zones, and the China-South Africa Chamber of Commerce. The deals demonstrated a series of consensus reached regarding cooperation in business and industry sectors.

In recent years, with its business-friendly environment, western Zhejiang's Quzhou has successively hosted similar events to promote its economic and trade cooperation with the international community under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The trade volume between Quzhou and African countries has experienced rapid growth in the past two years. In 2017, it achieved a year-on-year increase of 73.9% and the figure in 2018 was 23.7%, despite the current environment of the global economy.

The fair was organized by Quzhou Municipal People's Government and CCPIT Zhejiang Provincial Committee and hosted by CCPIT Quzhou Committee.
