China reports shrinking M&A market in August

China saw shrinking mergers and acquisitions (M&A) both in terms of the number of deals and transaction volume, industrial data showed.

A total of 111 M&A deals were completed in China last month, down by 32.3 percent year-on-year, according to data released by domestic investment research institute Zero2IPO Research.

The transaction volume of the 84 deals which have disclosed related information plunged by 84.1 percent year-on-year.

The chemical materials and processing sector reported the largest number of M&A deals, followed by the real estate and machinery manufacturing industries.

In terms of transaction volume, the food and beverage sector made it into the top three, after the chemical materials and processing and the machinery manufacturing industries.
