A total of 104 projects were signed on Sunday at the ongoing 2019 World Conference on VR (virtual reality) Industry, with the contracted amount totaling 65.3 billion yuan (about 9.2 billion U.S. dollars), local authorities said.

The conference, which highlights the latest VR-related technologies, products and businesses and the exploration of a 5G-enabled VR industry, opened Saturday in Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province.

The projects covered a wide range of areas along the VR industrial chain, including component manufacturing, software development and VR applications, according to the provincial department of industry and information technology.

"Nanchang has drawn up a blueprint for VR industrial development, in a bid to build itself into a world-class VR city by 2023," said Yang Wenbin, vice mayor of Nanchang, at the industry matchmaking symposium.

This year's conference has attracted more than 7,000 industry insiders and 215 exhibitors from home and abroad to a VR expo concurrently held in the city.
