2019 Hunan Economic Cooperation Conference opens in Yiyang, Hunan

The 2019 Hunan Economic Cooperation conference and the 9th Global Forum for Hunan Entrepreneurs kicked off in Yiyang, Hunan Province on Oct. 29. With the theme "New growth drivers for new cooperation prospects," the conference has gathered over 1,000 enterprises including 35 ranked among the top 500 enterprises in three categories, namely the world's top 500, China's top 500 and China's top 500 private enterprises. 

Qu Hai, secretary of the CPC Yiyang Municipal Committee, delivered the opening speech. Qu said, Yiyang, as the host city of the conference, has always been a pioneer in optimizing its business environment, deepening industry integration and promoting the rural economy. Qu stressed the local government's determination in further optimizing the business environment and wished the conference success. 

While addressing the conference, Li Weiwei,  chairman of the 11th Hunan provincial committee of the CPPCC, gave credit to Hunan entrepreneurs' spirit of innovation, industry and tenacity. According to Li, Hunan achieved stable performance with good momentum for growth in economic development in the first three quarters of 2019, which is a result of cooperation between governments and enterprises. 

Yao Jinbo, the founder and CEO of 58.com, a leading classified advertisement website in China, delivered his speech as a representative of Hunan entrepreneurs. He said that over the past few years, he has always insisted on giving back to his hometown, and therefore his company has invested 3 billion yuan in the province. He added that 58.com has provided more than 2,000 jobs to local people and incubated over 300 high-tech enterprises. 

Zhou Qunfei, founder of Lens Technology, said she was an actual beneficiary from the policy of the functional transformation of governments. She added that the financial and policy support from the government has helped her sail through economic difficulties. 

As a bridge connecting governments and enterprises, the conference also provided a stage for entrepreneurs who wanted to express their further expectations of the government as well as a platform to promote cooperation among enterprises. 

Businesses that participated in the conference signed 234 projects worth 156 billion yuan ($26 billion), including 19 projects invested by the firms listed among the three categories of the top 500 enterprises. 

Long Yongtu, former vice minister of foreign trade and economic cooperation, and Qiu Xiaoping, vice president of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, attended the ceremony. 

Over 200 Hunan chambers of commerce and financial institutions participated in the conference as well.
