Amazon.com Inc is set to open a pop-up store on Chinese e-commerce platform Pinduoduo Inc and operate it through the end of December, ifeng.com reported on Monday.

The pop-up store will provide a selection of about 1,000 products from overseas at competitive prices with genuine product guarantees and quick delivery, the report stated, citing Amazon's announcement.

Pinduoduo said the company will, for the first time, run a Black Friday promotion with Amazon as one of its partners. At the moment, the two companies do not have in-depth cooperation.

Amazon withdrew from the Chinese domestic marketplace in July, and the company said in April it would instead increase its focus on selling goods from abroad to Chinese buyers and developing its other businesses in the country like cloud services, Reuters reported.

US-based Amazon has been operating in China for about 15 years, buying local Chinese online shopping website Joyo.com in 2004 and rebranding it as Amazon China in 2011, according to the South China Morning Post.

Chinese e-commerce company Pinduoduo, a four-year-old startup, gained popularity via its group-buying business model, which offers discounts to users who persuade friends on social media platforms to buy an item with them to get a lower price.
