According to the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, 1,356 foreign-funded enterprises have been newly established in Beijing through October. Among them, 1,301 are engaged in the service sector, accounting for 95.9% of the total this year.

Over these 10 months, Beijing's actual use of foreign capital totaled US$ 13.45 billion, with US$ 12.76 billion - or 94.8% - used in the service sector.

Beijing's ongoing effort to improve its business environment has been acknowledged in the World Bank Group's annual doing business report. China moved to the 31st globally in the ease of doing business ranking, climbing 15 places from its position last year. Regarding the "starting a business" indicator, China rose one place to 27th while Beijing obtained 95.1 marks in this indicator, increasing by 1.4 marks compared with last year.

A major highlight of Beijing's recent work to help the business community is easing the process of starting a company, which can now be done in a "one-stop" manner through a principle of "one platform, one process, one business license, one form, one-package service completed in one day." The city's data shows that 175,600 business entities have been set up from January to October, representing a year-on-year growth of 5.3%.

As China's sole pilot city for opening up the service industry, Beijing has been speeding up in promoting this initiative. Since 2015, it has launched three rounds of reform measures, completing 226 assigned tasks and implementing 68 of the country's pioneering or most effective innovative initiatives. A new round of opening up in the service industry began this year, and 170 out of the 177 assigned tasks have been completed as of October.
