Shanghai-based SAIC Motor Corp. will recall 16,292 Cadillac CT6 vehicles from the Chinese market next week, according to the country's top quality watchdog.
The recall, set to begin on Dec. 31, involves CT6 models manufactured between June 25, 2018 and Sept. 9, 2019, said a statement on the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Due to an electronic brake control module software error, the electronic stability control (ESC) and antilock brake system (ABS) of the affected vehicles may become disabled. Furthermore, if this specific error occurs, the vehicles' diagnostics will not illuminate the instrument cluster ESC and ABS malfunction warning lights.
The automaker promised to upgrade electronic brake control module software of the affected cars free of charge to eliminate safety risks, according to the statement.
