878 brands open first regional stores in Beijing

A total of 878 popular brands opened their first regional stores in Beijing in 2019, said Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau officials on Monday. 

According to the bureau, 12 of those stores are the brands' first flagship stores worldwide, nine are the first regional stores in Asia Pacific, 201 are firsts in China, 115 are firsts in north China, and 541 are firsts in Beijing. They include 150 international brands from 13 countries and regions. The CBD, Sanlitun and Wangfujing are the top three commercial areas in Beijing that attracted the most "first stores."

The stores are from various industries providing all types of services. The catering industry accounts for the highest percentage of 54.26%. It is followed by the retail industry with 25.03%. Stores providing childcare services, living services, and entertainment account for 5.87%, 5.20%, and 9.63%, respectively. 

In the first three quarters of 2019, 212 first regional stores were launched in Beijing, and the number jumped to 338 in the last quarter. Among the ones opened from October to December, four are world-first stores, 80 are China's first stores.
