Singapore's NODX declines by 3.3 pct year-on-year in January 2020

Singapore's non-oil domestic exports (NODX) declined by 3.3 percent year-on-year this January, a reversal from the 2.4 percent growth in the previous month, Enterprise Singapore, a government agency, announced on Feb. 17.

On a month-on-month seasonally adjusted basis, the NODX grew by 4.6 percent in January 2020 to 14.7 billion Singapore dollars (about 10.57 billion U.S. dollars), extending the previous month's 1 percent increase.

In a breakdown of Singapore's total NODX, Singapore's electronic NODX contracted by 13 percent year-on-year in January, easing from the 21.3 percent decline in the previous month. Meanwhile, the non-electronic NODX contracted slightly by 0.1 percent year-on-year, after the 11.5 percent expansion in December 2019.

Singapore's NODX to the Chinese mainland grew by 14.7 percent year-on-year this January, extending the previous month's 9.8 percent increase.

In a breakdown, the electronic NODX to the Chinese mainland fell by 21.9 percent year on year in January, while the non-electronic NODX grew 28 percent.
