China's railway department will lower miscellaneous freight charges periodically to reduce logistics costs of enterprises amid the epidemic, according to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd (CSR).

Miscellaneous freight charges will be halved from March 6 to June 30, which is expected to ease logistics costs by 380 million yuan (about 54.75 million U.S. dollars) for enterprises and shippers, the CSR said.

The measure may effectively offset the impact of the epidemic on logistics services and help enterprises resume production as soon as possible, said the company.

Meanwhile, the railway department will give full play to ensure the transport of supplies for epidemic control and work resumption with more precise plans, the CSR added.
