The China International Big Data Industry Expo 2020 event will be cancelled due to the COVID-19 epidemic, its organizing committee announced on Thursday.

The expo was scheduled to take place from May 26 to 29 in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province.

The committee said some regional activities on the development of China's big data industry will be held in the second half of this year.

Since 2015, the big data industry expo, the first of its kind in China, has been held in Guiyang five times. Last year, the expo attracted over 448 enterprises from 59 countries and regions.

As China's first big data pilot zone, Guiyang has attracted heavyweight players, including Apple, Qualcomm, Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba and Foxconn, to establish cloud computing and big data centers as well as regional headquarters.
