China's civil aviation regulator on Monday adjusted the arrangements for the first points of entry for international flights bound for Beijing.

Starting June 8, the cities of Chengdu, Changsha, Hefei and Lanzhou will be added as the new first points of entry for incoming international passenger flights to Beijing, the Civil Aviation Administration of China said in an online statement.

The adjustment drops Shanghai as one of the first entry points, while adding Wuhan as a back-up, according to the statement.

After the adjustment, a total of 16 cities are now acting as first points of entry for Beijing, including Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Hohhot, Jinan, Qingdao, Nanjing, Shenyang, Dalian, Zhengzhou and Xi'an.

In March, China started to redirect all international flights scheduled to arrive in Beijing to airports in 12 other Chinese cities, where passengers must go through customs clearance and quarantine, with those passing quarantine inspection being permitted to fly to Beijing on their original flights.
