The 4th World Intelligence Congress (WIC), a top event in the field of intelligent technology, opened in north China's Tianjin on Tuesday.

With the theme of "Intelligence New Era: Innovation, Energization and Ecology," the two-day event is designed to promote frontier ideas, cutting-edge technologies and high-end products from across the globe.

In contrast with previous WICs, the event is held online this year. Utilizing such smart technologies as artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, the congress brings together State leaders, experts and entrepreneurs from all over the world in real-time.

Wan Gang, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and president of the China Association for Science and Technology, attended the opening ceremony.

At the themed summit on Tuesday afternoon, 12 prestigious experts and business leaders delivered speeches on the development and application of intelligent technology that will emerge in the post-pandemic era.

During the congress, 13 innovative forums were planned online, covering areas such as digital economy, smart healthcare, big data and the Internet of Vehicles.

The event also features various kinds of competitions, including the 4th World Intelligent Driving Challenge, the 2nd International Intelligent Sports Congress and the Cyberspace AI Security Contest.

Nearly a hundred project contracts were expected to be signed during the event, involving such sectors as new infrastructure, information technology, and high-end equipment.

The WIC was launched in 2017 to create a platform for exchanges, cooperation, win-win outcomes and mutual benefits, as well as drive the sound development of a new generation of AI.

In previous years, about 300,000 visitors from home and abroad gathered in Tianjin to discuss the world's most pioneering trends in intelligent technologies.
