Chinese shares higher at midday Monday

China's major stock indices jumped in the morning session Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 4.24 percent at 3,286.6 points in largest expansion in almost 15 months.

The Shenzhen Component Index climbed 3.29 percent to end at 12,842.3 points at midday.

Turnover of stocks at the Shanghai Stock Exchange hit 434.1 billion yuan (about 61.4 billion U.S. dollars), and that of the Shenzhen bourse stood at 506.4 billion yuan.

Shares of brokerages, banks and duty-free product dealers led the gains in the morning session.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, went up 2.21 percent to 2,516.87 points.
