Beijing has launched 30 projects to address major issues in industrial upgrading, urban management, and public services through new technologies and digitalization, the city announced at a press conference on Thursday.

The projects have a total investment of 5.29 billion yuan (US$750 million) and will provide opportunities to small and medium-sized businesses, boost application and development of artificial intelligence, 5G, and the BeiDou navigation system, and help to scale up new business models.

The project launch came after Beijing introduced an action plan in June to accelerate new scenario applications and boost the digital economy, focusing on 10 major areas including 5G-based internet of vehicles, smart healthcare, online education, and tech applications in the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Six projects are in Beijing's sub-center, with a total investment of over 380 million yuan, according to Su Guobin, vice head of Tongzhou district.
