Construction work of the Qingdao Qingchun Stadium project officially started on July 31. Contracted to China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), the stadium is built to be one of the 10 major venues of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.

As a key project of CSCEC, it has been given top priority in terms of resource allocation, team selection, and site management and control. With supports from systems and apps like Smart Construction Site, Green Construction, and BIM, CSCEC is utilizing its unique technological strength to guarantee safety and quality of the project,

Symbol of Qingdao's magnetic vibe

The inspiration behind the stadium design derived from the coastal ambience of Qingdao, with the wave pattern on the exterior facades in tune with the city's scenic view, and its young and vibrant spirit. Upon completion, it will be a world-class sports destination with advanced facilities, and a symbol of Qingdao's openness and modernity.

Sports complex with parklike setting

The football center with diverse functions is also designed to generate commercial value from sports-related activities. It incorporates professional sports facilities, auxiliary amenities, and a parklike environment, providing pleasant experiences of park tours and stroll to the visitors.

Venue for top-level sporting events

Qingdao Qingchun Stadium fits the guideline requirements that the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) stipulates for the World Cup and the Asian Cup. With a seating capacity of over 50,000, it qualifies for hosting the semi-finals of the Asian Cup. The distance between touchlines and pitch perimeter is 8.5 meters, and goal lines 10 meters, providing a closer view for spectators without compromising athletes' comfort and safety.

Underground space with interconnectivity

In the interest of increasing accessibility, attracting more customers, and unlocking the maximum commercial potentials of the venue, the stadium design integrates the underground spaces for commercial venues, recreational facilities, and subway station, with connections to the parking lots and shopping streets in the vicinity. The parking space could switch between functions of serving the event on game days and the general public on regular days.

A stadium without running track

Built purposefully for football matches, Qingdao Qingchun Stadium has no running track, a feature that shortens the viewing distance and delivers better experiences. By bringing the cheering fans closer to the pitch, it creates a much more lively and intense atmosphere. It will be the stadium that Qingdao residents have been longing for, not only satisfying their passion for world-class football events, but also laying a solid foundation for the city's budding sports industry.
