This year, NetEase Youdao made its debut at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). Jin Lei, the company's vice-president, hopes that while digging into the domestic market, the company can also use the platform to further expand its digital products and services to countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea and Singapore.

Different from traditional trade, digital services are becoming a new growth point for trade. Along with NetEase Youdao, there are actually many other companies in Zhongguancun Software Park that have the same plan to "go global."

In the past two decades, a large number of digital technology companies have blossomed in Zhongguancun Software Park. In 2019, the total output value of the park reached 287 billion yuan ($41.69 billion), and its GDP per square kilometer was 110.4 billion yuan. The 2.6-square-kilometer software park is home to more than 700 domestic and foreign IT companies, including 66 listed companies, 80 companies with revenues of more than 100 million yuan and 26 key software companies recognized by the state.

"More than 95% of the companies in the park are digital service companies," according to Wang Wei, director of the Industrial Services Department of Zhongguancun Software Park. He said that digital services could be divided into three categories: digital technology, digital content and traditional software service outsourcing. Digital technology refers to technologies that include cloud computing, blockchain, artificial intelligence, mobile internet and more; digital content refers to content that is provided by companies like Chinese video-sharing mobile apps Kuaishou and Douyin and Chinese microblogging website Weibo, among others. As for traditional software service outsourcing, Zhongguancun Software Park was once known as the "cradle of software service outsourcing." Companies such as iSoftstone and BeyondSoft have been incubated in the park.

Zhongguancun Software Park's digital services have in fact spread across all the world's continents, becoming a new key player in China's digital service exports. Lenovo's smart computers and mobile phones are well-known in countries along the "Belt and Road"; Beijing Teamsun Technology Co Ltd has opened seven global R&D centers in Serbia and other countries; and the U-Dictionary produced by NetEase Youdao ranked first on the Google Play download list in some countries.

In April of this year, Zhongguancun Software Park was approved as one of the first 12 national digital service export bases, becoming the only one in Beijing on the list.

"We value the title very much because it represents our future direction," an official from Zhongguancun Software Park said, believing that digital service exportation will be a new growth point for future trade.

"In terms of digital services, the software park has unique advantages. We want to create a platform and provide services that are conducive to the development of digital service export enterprises," Wang Wei said with confidence.

The CIFTIS is the world's first comprehensive fair in the field of service trade, and it is one of the top fairs in the field of service trade in China. This year, Zhongguancun Software Park will have more than 10 companies participating in the fair, exhibiting the park's cutting-edge technologically and culturally innovative achievements in many zones through forms such as videos, physical products, interactive experiences and posters.
