Leading online educator Zuoyebang unveils high-tech gadgets at CIFTIS

Zuoyebang, China's leading K-12 online tutoring platform, showcased its array of high-tech gadgets at the education service trade-themed exhibition of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in Beijing on Sept. 4.

At the scientific and technological achievement press conference held during the fair, Zuoyebang officially released its newly developed elementary school mathematics courseware Cocos and its P3 series of "Paperang" machines that can intelligently print wrong questions.

The courseware Cocos is empowered by technologies such as facial and gesture recognition, big data, and artificial intelligence, highlighting the wide application of cutting-edge technologies in "Smart Education Scenarios."

Zuoyebang also showcased its unique teaching system at the service trade fair. From July to August 2020, its online streaming classes have attracted a total of 7.8 million students, a year-over-year increase of more than 390%. The size of its live streaming courses has grown more than 10 times in the past two years, becoming the fastest growing live course brand in China.

Besides offering online courses and running live lessons, Zuoyebang's app also allows students to take a picture of a question, upload it to the app and get a solution. The user only needs to use Zuoyebang's app on their mobile phone to take a picture of the exercise, the correct answer, along with the problem-solving steps, will be printed out. It will also classify mistakes according to different types. Compared with the previous versions, the P3 series has upgraded hardware, including higher printing resolution and larger frame width, which can greatly benefit students.

In addition, Zuoyebang also demonstrated to visitors how online education companies can use self-developed technology, platforms and services to help online teaching and learning.

Founded in 2015, Zuoyebang's app helps students — ranging in age from kindergarten to 12th-grade — solve problems and understand complex concepts. It has a complete set of educational technology solutions, including AI, big data and live streaming.

Relying on industry-leading technologies that include OCR text recognition, speech recognition and semantic recognition, combined with its database of 250 million questions, its response speed and photo search accuracy have been ranked first in the industry.

Until now, Zuoyebang has accumulated more than 800 million active users. Its monthly active users are now exceeding 170 million in number.

In April 2020, Zuoyebang announced a strategic cooperation with the Chinese national women's volleyball team.

With the deepening integration of cutting-edge technologies, such as AI, 5G, big data, blockchain, VR/AR and 8K, online education will be given increased emphasis in the future. At the CIFTIS, Zuoyebang focused on showing its achievements in promoting an inclusive and balanced education.

Empowered by AI and big data, Zuoyebang has launched China's first comprehensive protection platform for youth information security. Since its launch, the platform has intercepted more than 100 million times the amount of harmful information.

According to Zuoyebang, 70% of its users come from third- and fourth-tier cities and countries, including deeply impoverished areas.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc across large parts of China, Zuoyebang has launched free live streaming classes for students. It live broadcasted nearly 2,000 high-quality online courses in five weeks, covering subjects that included pandemic prevention and control, traditional culture and poetry.

The company currently has more than 22,000 employees and branches in 11 cities, including Beijing, Xi'an, Wuhan, Hefei, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Jinan, Shijiazhuang, Nanjing, Changsha and Chongqing.
