On Sept. 4, the Global Trade in Services Summit of the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was held. Zhou Naixiang, chairman of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), said in an interview that CSCEC has taken the lead in contributing to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and achieved rapid development in overseas business during the past few years, maintaining its position as the largest investment and construction conglomerate in the world.

According to Zhou, CSCEC does business in more than 130 countries and regions. With staff localization rate over 85%, CSCEC is providing more than 50,000 jobs for the countries where the company operates every year. Facing the wide spreading of COVID-19 overseas, CSCEC has overcome tough challenges and kept expanding its international market. The value of newly signed contracts overseas have amounted to 101 billion yuan, up 11.8% year on year.

Zhou said that CSCEC attached great importance to taking part in the 2020 CIFTIS and took it as an important window to showcase CSCEC's overseas construction services and a bridge to establish closer cooperative relations with proprietors abroad. CSCEC actively participated in and carefully planned the trade fair for construction services to present CSCEC's practices of following the BRI and its latest achievements in digital construction ecosystem, smart construction and management, information technology, and application of smart devices, urban renewal, renovation and management of existing buildings and other areas.

Zhou stated that following the theme of “Global Services, Shared Prosperity,” CSCEC will take the CIFTIS as an opportunity to actively integrate into the process of economic globalization. CSCEC will give full play to its expertise in providing turnkey solutions covering investment, planning, design, construction, and management, as well as its competitive edge in international operation to provide precision services to upstream and downstream enterprises both at home and abroad on the supply chain, aiming to contribute to the development of all countries and welfare of people in the world with its high-quality services.
