Over 800 Chinese and foreign tech firms to participate in Beijing high-tech expo

The 23rd China Beijing International High-Tech Expo (CHITEC) will be held in Beijing from Sept. 17 to 20. This year's expo will be held in conjunction with the 2020 Zhongguancun Forum (ZGC Forum) for the first time. 

So far, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, and seven other international organizations, as well as more than 800 tech firms from home and abroad, have confirmed their participation.

The event is jointly hosted by China's Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Intellectual Property Administration, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and the Beijing government, and is undertaken by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-council (CCPIT Beijing).

According to an official from CCPIT Beijing, this year's expo as a part of the ZGC Forum will include nine promotional events and two forums held around the theme of "Meet challenge with Cooperation and Innovation."

This year's expo will center around the 30,000-square-meter main hall at the China International Exhibition Center (Jing'anzhuang venue). It will be divided into 12 thematic exhibition areas, including an anti-epidemic technology exhibition area, an international exhibition area, a cutting-edge technology exhibition area, and a Winter Olympics technology exhibition area.

The organizer said this year's expo will focus on cutting-edge technologies in key areas as well as showcase cutting-edge technological achievements such as 5G communications, industrial interconnection, intelligent connected cars, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, and internet security.

It will also emphasize the development of industrial integration, showcasing innovative achievements that have arisen from fusing technology with Winter Olympics development, culture, information, finance, agriculture, and other related industries. The event will also focus on regional cooperation with an aim to build a regional collaborative innovation platform and promote the transformation of major scientific and technological innovation achievements and international technology transfer.

According to the expo's organizer, this year's expo will work to create a platform for international exchange and cooperation in the fields of science and technology. In addition to the domestic offices of international organizations and multinational companies, 20 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities including Tianjin, Hebei, and Jilin will participate in the exhibition.
