Macao's gaming industry revenue plunged by 90% year-on-year in September 2020, the special administrative region (SAR)'s gaming industry watchdog said on Saturday.

Macao's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said in its latest report that the gaming revenue was 2,211 million patacas (about 277.04 million U.S. dollars) in September this year, a drastic decline of 90% from 2019.

The accumulated revenue in the first nine of this year reached more than 38.60 billion patacas (about 4.84 billion dollars), also down by 82.5% year-on-year.

Macao's monthly gaming revenue kept a year-on-year growth for 29 consecutive months since August 2016. But the trend was ended as it recorded a decrease of 5% in January 2019.
