The 15th International Forum on Li Battery Technology and Industrial Development was held in Beijing's Shunyi district on Oct. 12.

The district is now home to several large vehicle companies including BAIC Group, Beijing Hyundai, and Lixiang Auto. It is also home to various R&D and design companies such as BMW R&D Center and more than 150 core parts companies.

More than 10 million cars have been produced in Shunyi district so far, and auto and parts companies in the area have surpassed an output value of 1.5 trillion yuan, with cumulative tax totaling 120 billion yuan.

With the maturation of the pure electric vehicle market in Beijing, as of July, Beijing has promoted the use of more than 350,000 pure electric vehicles and built more than 200,000 charging facilities.

Liang Bin, deputy head of Shunyi district, said that given the new energy intelligent automobile industry is well established in the district, the next step will be for Shunyi to take advantage of its existing edge and work to attract more renowned parts companies in core component fields such as batteries, motors, and electronic control. This will help improve its position across the entire industry chain and build the district into an innovation cluster with international influence within the automobile industry.

It is estimated that by 2025, the output value of Shunyi district's automobile industry will exceed 200 billion yuan.

The forum was sponsored by Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Science's Institute of Physics, and the Shunyi District People's Government of the Beijing Municipality.
