Chinese e-commerce giant JD said it will offer 50 percent discounts on more than 200 million commodities, launch more than 300 million new products and give subsidies and consumption coupons worth more than 20 billion yuan ($3 billion) during this year's Singles Day shopping carnival.

JD Worldwide, the company's cross-border commerce unit, will introduce more than 500,000 imported goods from more than 100 countries and regions across the globe during this year's shopping bonanza

Livestreaming continues to drive online shopping in the country, becoming a key method to promote products and facilitate sales. More than 300 celebrities and more than 500 chief executives will join the live broadcasts at JD.

It also plans to access consumers in lower-tier cities through selling products at a lower price and providing customer-to-manufacturer or C2M, products.

JD continued to break records in online sales during this year's June 18 shopping festival from June 1 to 18, the second-largest after Singles Day.

It reported that its sales during the nearly three-week-long period reached a staggering 269.2 billion yuan, an increase of 33.6 percent compared with 201.5 billion yuan a year ago.
