The administrative committee of Zhongguancun Science Park has announced that capital funding will be provided to 23 projects for the construction of new technology service platforms and carriers. The project includes the re-utilization of space inventory, of which 13 old factories will be renovated to serve as incubation zones for hi-tech firms.
A factory complex previously used for battery production at No. 33 Zique Road in Beijing's Haidian district has been rebuilt into an incubator that provides entrepreneurship and innovation services for hi-tech firms. So far, 178 companies have settled at the incubator, including 28 hi-tech companies.
An unfinished commercial building located by the North Third Ring Road in Xicheng district is also being transformed into a space to house professional services for design and industrial innovation companies. Currently, 300 companies have been attracted to the venue.
In addition, financial backing will also be provided to a number of cutting-edge industry carrier construction projects such as the construction of a research park for the Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The Zhongguancun Science Park is a technology hub in Beijing's northwestern Haidian district. According to funding regulations of the Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone, the renovated incubation zones must not include firms listed in the Catalogue for the Prohibition and Restriction of Newly Increased Industries.
